Munnar came to be known to the outside world in the 1870s with the visit of the British Resident of the then Travancore kingdom John Daniel Munro. Munro, who visited the place as part of settling the border dispute between Travancore and the nearby state of Madras literally fell for the beauty of the region. Though the Munnar region fell under the jurisdiction of the Travancore kingdom, it was the jenmam land of Poonjar royal family. Of the several hills in the region, he found the Kanan Devan hills with high potential for plantation crops. Without wasting any time Munro visited the Poonjar Palace and met the then head of the royal family, Rohini Thirunal Kerala Varma Valiya Raja, fondly called as Kela Varma Raja.
Arrival at Cochin Airport and proceed to Munnar.This beautiful hill station was once the summer capital of the British Government in India. After Breakfast proceed for full day sightseeing trip for Munnar – covering some of the major sightseeing – Mattupetti Lake & Dam, Echo point, Visit Rajamala (Eravikulam National Park – open as per the directions by the forest authorities), the best place to see NilgiriTahr (Hermitragus Hilarious)- the mountain goat of South India, considering the ecological faunal, floral, geo-morphological and zoological significant, Tea Museum & Tea Plantation. Kundalay Dam, Pothenmedu View Point, Tea Estate, Rose Garden, Photo Point, Honey Bee Tree, Blossom Park etc are some of the highlights of the sightseeing. Shopping & overnight stay at Munnar.
Morning proceed to Thekkady. By noon at Thekkady. Then proceed to Periyar lake around which the sanctuary is built, for boating (cost extra). This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the unique experience of viewing the wild life at close quarters from the safety of a boat. There you can see Tigers, Elephants, Deer, etc. Visit Spice Plantation where you can shop exotic spices, Malluperiyar Dam. Stay in Thekkady.
Morning after breakfast drive to Alleppey. By noon check in to the Hotel. Later proceed for Alleppey sightseeing. Visit Alaphuzzha Beach and Vijaya Beach Park. Later evening return to the Hotel in Alleppey. Overnight at Alleppey Hotel.
After Breakfast. Check out and transfer to Cochin. Arrive Cochin. Check into the Hotel. Cochin Antique Shops. Overnight stay at Cochin.
